Jak

Jak holds a bachelor’s and a master's degree, both in English, from the “Harvard of the Panhandle,” Texas Tech University. There, he worked as both a graduate instructor of Introductory and Advanced College Composition and as an Associate Editor for Texas Tech’s award-winning graduate literary journal, Iron Horse Literary Review. Now, he teaches 9th-grade English and Creative Writing in the DFW area and offers private reading and writing tutoring for grades 5-12.

A recent Best of the Net anthology nominee, Jak’s poems have been published in Roanoke Review, The Citron Review, Radar Poetry, Inklette, Chautauqua, The Dillydoun Review, and The Writer’s Foundry Review. In 2022, Jak was awarded both the Outstanding M.A. Instructor Award and The Emerging Writer Award by the Texas Tech English Department Faculty.

If not drowning in papers to grade, you can find him pretending to enjoy IPAs on a restaurant patio with friends.
